Czekolada!

Posted by fabricpile Mon, 27 Nov 2006 18:18:00 GMT

Our good Chicago friends came to visit this weekend bringing everyone’s favorite Polish Chocolate.

We stayed up way past midnight on Saturday playing games with the kids. Word games are always more fun with lots of people to play.

We learned that one of the few children’s programs that could be seen in Poland under communist rule was Little House on the Prairie, which is currently Emma’s favorite show. She and Kinga sat and watched a couple of episodes together—decked out in their best pioneer dustcaps.

Of course, they both insisted on being Laura, who was obviously the more creative and fun Ingalls sister. Mary may have been cute, but she sure was a stick-in-the-mud, wasn’t she?! By the way, that’s Henry as Jack, the Ingalls’ dog.

Dziekujemy for the Prince Polo & Delicje Szampanskie, Kinga & Tyler!

New Black Belts

Posted by fabricpile Sat, 18 Nov 2006 04:24:00 GMT

Here are the newest First Degree Black Belts in West Lafayette—with attitude! Emma and I even got to spar one round together. She didn’t beat me up too bad. We both broke boards on our first attempts.

CHAVA! Black Belt! w00t!

When I started working out with the kids two years ago, I had a hard time imagining myself actually earning my black belt.

But here I am. And there’s Emma—who will no doubt remember that she had her new rank for a good 10 minutes before I received mine!

Millie

Posted by fabricpile Mon, 06 Nov 2006 17:04:00 GMT

This is Millie Arista Eponine Krutulis.

Millie has officially joined the Krutulis crowd, and she’s pretty darned pleased about it. Her sweet nature and Harley-Davidson purr make her a welcome addition to the household.

You Will Be Assimilated . . . . Nano-Nano

Posted by fabricpile Sun, 05 Nov 2006 02:05:00 GMT

Resistance is futile. We are such geeks!

We have been watching a lot of Star Trek DVDs lately thanks to Netflix. I also ordered Mork and Mindy to introduce the kids to the cheesier side of Robin Williams’ early work.

We find ourselves pondering this deeply nerdy question: If Mork had encountered the Borg on his trip from Ork to Earth, would the Borg have assimilated him?

There has been some speculation by the kids that if Mork had been assimilated, the Borg would probably have shuddered collectively, shoved him back in his egg and sent him on his way.

The Inevitable

Posted by fabricpile Fri, 03 Nov 2006 14:21:00 GMT

The shaggy, brown-haired boy is now taller than the shaggy, blond-haired girl.

But he has to watch out—she can still wonk him upside the noggin with her lightning-fast round kick!
