This
Site,
It is
Quite clever.
Now I’ll make a plea
To try your own fibs out on me.
I’ll
Bet
A Buck
You’ll get stuck,
That I’ll never see
How much your feeble fibs will suck.
If you find yourself compelled to write them, it’s all Uncle Jay’s fault for sending the link.

What a rockin’ poetry slam we had tonight! Only poems recited from memory counted (poetry worth sharing is worth remembering). Henry was lead-off batter with a Krutulis family original poem:
Once upon a time,
I fell into some slime.
It covered up my head.
I thought that I was dead.
Imagine my surprise,
When I opened up my eyes,
And sat up in my bed.
"Whew! Just a dream," I said.
Wasn’t easy to bat after Henry, but I managed Timothy Steele’s “Mockingbird,” a family favorite.
Max continued his exploration of Keats’s “La Belle Dame Sans Merci,” and threw in a little Shelley with “Ozymandias.” David put “Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening” to his own melody (special award for most original). Joe countered with his favorite Frost, “Mowing,” and Shakespeare’s sonnets number 2 and 18. Lillie favored us with “The Owl and the Pussycat.” Emma X made a surprise showing with George Peele’s “The Sad Shepherd’s Passion of Love” and Kira supplied the always-in-demand recitation of “Jabberwocky.”
But Tom Fisher was clearly champion of the evening:

He gave masterful interpretations of Robert Service’s smash hits
“The Cremation of Sam McGee” and “The Shooting of Dan McGrew.” I want my MP3! As an encore, Tom pulled out Lewis Carroll’s “The Walrus and the Carpenter.”
It doesn’t get much better than this. w00t! Merry Christmas to everyone!
