Kira, here are a few tips to keep you safe while you drive. First of all, don’t go in reverse unless you are actually looking in the mirrors. When you used to drive your walker around, you constantly crashed into things. You were awfully proud of yourself, though.
Avoid going over the speed limit. You skipped right through walking and ran up and down the hall with this thing. You can tell by the look on your face that you were hell-bent for speed at only eight months of age.
Always make sure that the horn works just in case you need to blast it at a student who isn’t paying attention on campus and steps out in front of you. And smile, for goodness sake. He might be cute!
Don’t forget to wear your glasses! Vanity is no substitute for being able to actually see the street signs.

I’m so glad to finally live in a house that is the perfect canvas for color, texture and design. Our little casa may look plain and simple on the outside, but inside it’s going to be a showcase of creativity.
Kira’s door is beginning to take on a life of its own thanks to her paint and brushes. Since she does most of her work on the computer, it’s a nice change of pace for her.
We’re going to collaborate sometime this weekend on a giant wing design that I can quilt. But tonight I’ve been playing around with a new quilting technique. Bubbles! I can’t go any further, though, after waaaay underestimating the amount of thread I need to complete this section of the quilt.
Dang, dang, dang! So much for the groove I had going. Not that there aren’t plenty of other things to do around here. I think I’ll grab a paint brush and work on my mouldings.

Every year the Otterbein Public Library purchases new “Christmas” novels because there are a large number of older patrons who really like to read them to get into the holiday spirit. Last year I was truly surprised at how popular they were.
So today while Cindy was combing Amazon for this year’s new titles, she happened upon this one:
Of course I’m going to buy it, put it out on the Christmas display and see how the little old ladies react to it. It’s all I ever wanted!
We celebrated by making a patriotic, punctuation cake (ooooo . . . appropriate comma usage? Does patriotic modify punctuation or cake? Could go either way. Are you out there, X the Evil Editor?)
See all those little periods, exclamation points, hypens, and asterisks? Pillsbury makes a cake for every special occasion!
Don’t forget—hug a hyphen today! And for goodness sake, get out there and educate others on the proper use of the apostrophe!

This is Doris, my new Buick. She’s a nice, sensible brown, but likes to think of herself as a sweet chocolat au lait.
She’s comfortable and well-apportioned on the inside.
She doesn’t need to be too flashy. She has more subtle ways of showing off her style.
And please don’t call her a mini-van. She prefers Crossover Sports Van, thank you very much! She’s still young at heart just like me. I think we’re going to get along fine.
